the Price of Hardwood Floor Installation

The above price is for hardwood flooring installation in a kitchen, approximately 8'x12'. We removed all appliances and furniture from the kitchen prior to the installation. We also had already purchased some discounted hardwood flooring so that is not included in the price. This price includes removal of the vinyl "sticky" type tile that was on our subflooring and installation of our own hardwood flooring.

We went with an individual to provide this service. Since we already had the flooring we wanted, most carpet and flooring companies did not want to install for us. They want to install their own products.

Find out from family, friends and co-workers who installed their carpeting or other flooring. Sometimes a place that sells carpeting and flooring subcontracts their jobs out, so if you have your own flooring already bought, see if you can find out who they subcontract with. Surplus warehouses and manufacturers of hardwood flooring or vinyl flooring often have steep discounts for the general public on "culled" products, and sometimes the reasons for rejection are not obvious. Workers at these places can often get these products even cheaper than the general public's discounted rate. Ask, ask, ask!

It's generally cheaper if you are able to remove all furnishings/appliances rather than having them move them. It's also quicker for them to get in and start work. This also holds true for removal of any existing flooring, although we were afraid we'd damage the subfloor when we removed the tiles, so we left it for the professionals.
