We needed to have the floor in our office in our home tiled. We had 146 square feet of space and we provided the tile. We were charge about $5.14 per square foot for the job. We actually provided all the materials and they just provided labor. They worked on it for two days and then were complete.
Review of Service
The service we received was very bad. Our floors were not completely level but the person did not want to spread the self-leveling mortar so the tile would float correctly. We ended up with tile that cracked over a very short period of time grout that came up. The time looked great at first but then began to deteriorate. The workmanship was to be desired.
Tips
You must pay attention to whoever does the tile. Just because someone else used them may not mean so much. Ask for references and actually go look at the work. If the contractor does not want to give you any then you have a problem. Take that into consideration. Do a little research and find out how to do tile so this way you can look at the quality of work when they are doing it. By being more prepared you can be on the look out for problem before they start.
