Description of service
I've always had sinus problems and now, with high blood pressure to go along with it, needed to find an alternative to the medications that generally raise your blood pressure. I had heard some about acupuncture, but not a lot. I really just flew by the seat of my pants on this one, as chiropractors aren't highly thought of around here, much less acupuncturists.
The $500 included one session a week for 10 weeks.
Review of Service
Although I was a bit intimidated, I quickly got over it. The clinic was clean and nicely decorated (not something you normally say regarding a doctor's office). The doctor tried to explain everything that he was doing, but I didn't really understand a lot of it. I do know that it was virtually painless and I walked out feeling very relaxed. I thought I noticed a slight difference in my sinus problems after the first session, but figured it was the power of suggestion. By the second session, I knew that there really was something to it.
Tips
You won't necessarily get a good answer if you ask a family physician that still sees chiropractors as "alternative medicine". I personally have nothing but praise for them, but I'm amazed at doctors who see them as a threat. If necessary, search online for a list of nearby acupuncture clinics and then call and ask questiosn. You won't be the first, and if they're reliable, they will understand your hesitance and work to ease your mind. Often you can get a free assessment session so you can see what it's all about before committing.
