Description of service
First, a history and a whole body physical was performed at my initial appointment. Multiple questions were asked regarding the type of pain I was having and how it was affecting my body over all. It was recommended that I have a series of ten visits each lasting 30minutes where a series of needles were placed to realign my energy in my body making my body balanced and pain free. Being a little skeptical, I was given his research paper on acupuncture for migraine pain which explain the actual physiology of acupuncture and how it achieves pain relief.
Each visit consisted of the doctor placing sterile needles around my forehead, temples, sternum, toes and fingers and laying still, relaxed for 30 minutes.
So, within two visits my headaches were gone but the doctor stated that all ten (2-3 sessions a week over 3 weeks) needed to be performed to achieve complete equilibrium in the body and needed to be repeated every 6 months to remain pain free.
Review of Service
The doctor had received multiple awards for his work with acupuncture and his specialty with migraine therapy but he still spoke at my level to understand how it worked in the body to achieve pain relief. He made sure I was at ease when applying the needles due to my initial fear. Overall, I remained pain-free just as he stated- approximately 5 months.
Tips
Very well worth the experience for immediate relief- not for long-term pain.
Be sure that you have a doctor that you feel comfortable with. Next, research that the doctor is knowledgeable in the area of pain you are trying to "cure" otherwise a generic acupuncture session could be given to you and not achieve the specific results you need.
