Description of service
The cost was to cover vaccinations, spaying, and chipping at the time of the cat's release from the shelter.
The shelter offers adoption of a variety of animals, mostly cats and dogs, but some rabbits and ferrets and similar furry pets. They also offer basic veterinary services, with costs being just high enough to cover the cost of supplies and some of their overhead as they are a not-for-profit organization. They do welcome donations.
Review of Service
The cat was a bit distant when we got her and for the first few days, but once she'd gotten used to the dog and the other cat she turned into a bit of a purr factory. It is a bit weird at times that as soon as someone stops moving, she has to immediately go over and touch them. But she seems happy, so we're happy.
Everything seems to have gone smoothly with the vaccinations and surgery and she's healing nicely. The staff was polite and friendly and there was a minimum of paperwork. It was, however, still sad to leave all the other dogs and cats at the shelter.
Tips
If you're looking for a cat , don't rule out shelters and certainly don't rule out older animals. Sometimes they integrate better than kittens do because they're not as easy for the other cats to bully if you don't introduce them slowly enough.
If you do have a cat already and get another one, let them get used to each other's smell (say on a blanket near the food dish) before introducing them. That should make things go more smoothly.
