Description of service
I adopted the greatest cat ever from this shelter, and my wife did the same a month later. I believe the fee goes to help support the shelter, pay for spay/neuter, and all the health care that goes into the animals before adoption.
Review of Service
Our cats had been through quite a bit; one of them had been found under a sewer grate with his rear hips smashed, and had to be kept immobilized for weeks, and the other came in with a bad bite to his face and an abscess that had to be cared for as well. The shelter had clearly cared for them well, and they were kept as comfortably as their inadequate facilities allowed - they're building a new building now. I was absolutely happy to give them $100 each for all they did for my cats, and in fact went on to donate my time to them as well. I can't praise them enough.
Tips
If you see a shelter that doesn't seem to house its animals well and can't manage the health problems, contact the ASPCA or the local Humane Society; they are generally responsive. We have run across shelters that are not only inhumane, but out and out hoard animals until they would be better off left to their own devices. The conditions at some have made my cry. Please don't patronize them.
