Description of service
We got a kitten from the local animal shelter, the service included an examination of the kitten, vaccinations, de-worming, implantation with a tracking chip, and spaying (or neutering as appropriate). The shelter was associated with a veterinarian's office and had a variety of animal care services available as well as a variety of pets for adoption. The adoption price was the same per pet, though other veterinarian's services were extra.
Review of Service
We went in to get a kitten, and startlingly there were very few animals there that day. The lady who was on duty there was quite kind and allowed us to pick out a rambunctious and fluffy orange kitten at our leisure. He'd already been neutered and had his shots and stuff when he came into the shelter, so he was ready to go when we got him. The lady even showed us how the tracking chip worked and signed it up to work with our names and address.
Tips
No kill shelters (or even regular shelters) are a great place to find a furry friend. Look for healthy, happy animals to ensure they're well cared for in the shelter. Make sure they're willing to vaccinate and spay or neuter the animal before you take it away. Offering a tracking chip is a nicety that isn't always available, and if you move, be sure to update the information. There's nothing worse than having a shelter be unable to contact you when they've found your lost pet.
