the Cost of Ambulance Rides

When my sister was having severe stomach pain, we were nowhere near a hospital and had to call an ambulance. We had no idea how expensive it would be. She did not have any insurance at the time. We didn't have time to call anyone for a ride because of the severity of her pains. We called an ambulance and it arrived to our home within just five minutes. We were at the hospital just fifteen minutes after. She had an appendicitis come to find out. Since she did not have any insurance, she was billed for the cost of the ambulance ride. The bill was just over $250. We did not expect the bill to be that much for just a fifteen minute ride to the hospital.

We were grateful that we had the service but was not happy with the price. i think the cost of ambulance service is too much. They did not have to do anything extra for her at all, so basically it was a $250 ride to the hospital.

I would not use an ambulance for anything less than an emergency. If at all possible get someone to drive you to the hospital or even take a cab if you possible can. Only use an ambulance for emergencies, do not use them for a quick ride to the hospital, its very expensive.
