Description of service
I recently underwent a heart attack when I was in my home and I called 911. An ambulance from the closest hospital to me arrived and took me to the hospital. I paid 4,000 dollars total and for this price I was treated and kept alive while in the ambulance, given basic care, transported to the hospital, and taken to the emergency room. There were about five paramedics who treated me and loaded me into the ambulance and there were probably about seven men who unloaded me at the hospital. In the ambulance I did receive some treatment which I then did not have to receive in my hospital stay.
Review of Service
Overall I have a mixed review on the service. The price seemed outrageously high (however, almost all ambulance services cost that much), except the ambulance probably did save my life. I think the price does not at all reflect the costs for the hospital, in other words, I do believe that the hospital greatly profited from the service. I also think that the care was decent in the ambulance and it probably kept me alive before I made it to the hospital for more in-depth treatment. I think that the service is done smoothly and properly buy the price is simply too high.
Tips
I only have one tip and that is that I advise anyone experiencing a medical emergency to be very cautious in having an ambulance be sent. They are very very expensive and often times the patient does not actually need the care that the ambulance provides.
