Description of service
When I was 7 months pregnant I started feeling contractions coming so strong while I was at work. My supervisor called the ambulance to come and get me. After about 20 minutes they arrived and came to the 5th floor while I was at work. They asked me a series of questions regarding my pregnancy and then called my mother to inform her what the situation was. When I got to the ambulance they asked what hospital I wanted to go to and I listed the name of the hospital at which my doctor was located. They said they could not take me there due to it being out of district so I would have to settle on the nearest hospital of my choice.
Review of Service
When I arrived at the hospital, the paramedics were unfamiliar with the labor and delivery floor and I was taken to the wrong floor twice and once we reached the correct floor I was wheeled around on the stretcher until they could locate a nurse and recieve directions to the correct place to leave me. Then they helped me off the stretcher onto the hospital bed where the nurse took over.
Tips
Unless you absolutely have to ride in an ambulance I would try other alternatives. Ambulance rides are very costly. They charge a flat rate plus add on fees by the mile. And if you do have to go to the hospital in an ambulance pick one nearby!
