Description of service
Kennel service is generally a basic service in which your pet is kept overnight (for as many nights as needed), and is fed and given water. Depending on the kennel service you use, your pet may also be given individual attention, taken for a walk, or may be bathed. These other services may cost a few dollars more.
$8 per day is the starting rate for small pets, under 10 pounds. The rates go up with the size of the dog. The largest quote given was $15 per day for dogs under 75 pounds.
Review of Service
If you need care for your pet, you may be considering a kennel service. Many such services keep pets in a cage for most if not all of their stay, so be sure to check. This service took each pet outside into a back yard to exercise and play at least twice each day. A bath can be provided for $2-5 more, depending on the pet's size.
This kennel service is provided by the vet we use and the staffers truly love animals.
Tips
Find out what kind of set up is used. If pets are kept in cages 24/7 you might want to look for another service or consider hiring a pet sitter.
Make sure the people at the service are nice and that the animals respond well to them. Pets may be a little nervous anywhere, but if your pet seems extremely afraid of the caregiver, it's probably a good idea to look elsewhere.
It's also good to ask what kind of food your pet will be given as well. If there are dietary restrictions or other concerns, these need to be addressed in advance.
