Description of service
Twice a month my wife and I have to go out of town for a couple of days, for our business. We use a local dog sitter type service that is much like a day care for children, but it's for dogs. The women who run it charge $12 a day, plus additional fees for the initial application (this was minimal, $5 if I recall correctly), and you can choose whether or not to bring your own food, or pay for the food they provide. We bring our own food, since our dog has a stomach condition, but this charge is minimal and can save a hassle, especially if you have more than one dog.
Review of Service
I like knowing my dog is in good hands. We have tried going with relatives before, which works out fine, but since our boys usually go to a relatives house, it seems a bit much to ask them to take a dog, too. Plus, he gets excited when we ask him if he wants to go down there - I think he knows what I'm saying now. He seems to know he's going to hang out with his doggy friends.
Tips
Make sure the service provider is good with dogs, and relates well with your dog. Go to a couple different places if you have the option.
