the Price of Health Insurance from an HMO

I recieve coverage for myself and my child for 159.00 biweekly. This insurnce requires a primary care physician. The services include: 1 non co-pay physical per calendar year. Free "well-baby" check-ups and referral service. $20.00 co-pay for regular office visit. $25.00 co=pay for a specailist visit, and 50.00 co-pay for an emergency room visit. Free prentative care is also included.

I also have optical coverage.

I have been very satisfied with my current HMO care. I have yet to recieve a bill for any of the services I have recieved. The customer service was very helpful in informing me of services I did not have to pay for, and was quick to refund the money I paid in error. Most doctors in my area accept my insurance, and that is very helpful when choosing a doctor.

Know your policy very well. There have been several instances where my visit did not require a co-pay. However, the doctor's office just reads the card and charges the co-pay. It was not until later I realized I did not have to pay. I was able to be refunded but it would have been easier to know my plan in the beginning.
