Description of service
We had a new phone installed when we moved into our home in May of 2007. We had the phone company come to our home to install and activate our new phone line and phone number, as well as install additional phone jacks in three rooms.
Review of Service
The service was horrible. I was given a four-hour window time frame for the date of installation, which I fully expected to happen. The technician called fifteen minutes after the four-hour window expired and said he would be there within the half hour. Two hours later, he finally showed up after I called the phone company to find out when our phone would be installed. Evidently the technician was off work already, and seemed aggravated and put out that he was at our home installing a phone when he should have been at home. He was rude and inconsiderate to my husband and my son, and overcharged us for installation since it was after-hours. The after-hours fees were waived after I called the phone company, since it was not my fault he didn't show up when he was supposed to. If I weren't contractually bound to the phone company, I would have switched carriers a year ago because of how bad the service was.
Tips
Ask for advice from friends and family for a good phone company who installs for a reasonable price. I didn't know any better, and thought there was really only one phone company that serviced the area where my family moved. That is not the case, and had I called around, I probably would have gotten a better price on the installation, as well as better service.
