the Cost of Phone Installation and Repair

I had my phone service switched over from one carrier to another. The new carrier charged a $29.95 installation fee. They did not come out to my home, they just switched the service over and informed my old company that I would not be using them anymore.

I felt this was a lot to pay for the company to basically flip a switch. I am, however, told that this is a pretty normal amount to pay. They did deal with my current phone company which was nice. I did call to request my service be disconnected anyway, just to make sure it was done. I was informed that it was done the day my new company said they did it. When I called to have it installed with the new carrier the service I got was less than I wanted. They rushed through and didn't really explain things to me very well. All in all I was less than pleased with the experience.

I was told by a friend that when they tell you the price for installation if you ask them they will reduce it to get your business. I wish I'd done this as I don't think flipping a switch and making a phone call is worth $29.95.
