Description of service
Moved into an older home where none of the phone jacks worked or were falling out of the walls. Our phone service is through our cable company, so scheduled them to come out and replace/repair all the phone jacks in our home (total of 4). Fee included all service performed that day.
Review of Service
I can only say that the service we received was horrible. The tech came on time, which was nice, but from the start he wanted to sell us a custom fitting that we would have to reschedule to do and thus he could leave without doing anything. We told him no, we wanted the new phone jacks in the same places where they currently were located, just that some did not work at all and all were falling out of the wall and needed replaced. He warned us that it would take a few hours to do all of that, and we agreed that we had planned for that when scheduling the work done. He actually huffed and said OK and got to work. He rushed around and basically shoved and jammed his way through the job. He even got blood on our wall at one point where he was trying to shove a phone jack box into a hole he created that was too small, rather than to cut it larger. Some of the plates he installed were crooked, other jacks stuck out of the wall and were not flush, but he did get it done. It was a very unpleasing experience.
Tips
If you are not happy with your service, complain. Our particular cable company sub-contracts all of their service work for the most part, so the tech we were dealing with did not even work directly for our cable company. We have found that when this is the case, the service is horrible and the techs are lazy and do not want to do the job. Stick to your original agreement from when you scheduled and do not be afraid to call the company when the tech is still present. I have found that creates an immediate attitude change in the techs. Also, we complained about this tech after the fact to the cable company. They need to know who their sub-contractors are sending out on these jobs. Just do not be bullied into customized, more expensive service by a lazy tech.
