Description of service
I was called on the phone one day and had apparently been offered a free two week membership to a new womens gym in our area that had just opened up. The man stated that he wanted me to come in for a quick tour of the facility and talk to me about joining. So I set up an appointment and went to see what it was all about. When we were talking about the costs and fees he stated that after my free two week membership there would be a one time fee of $75 that I could spred out over serveral months and then a monthly fee depending on what membership package I chose. I chose the package that was $39 a month. He then took my account information in order to deduct my payments from my account monthly and then set up a one on one training session with me to learn how to use all of the gym equipment. I was able to make it to the first two sessions that week and then was unable to attend the gym anymore due to children and being in college etc... I called and told the man that I wished to cancell my membership before my free trial ended so that my account would not be charged. He stated to me that in order to cancel I would be responsible for paying the first months membership fee plus the one time $75 fee and an additional $100 fee would be added for processing the cancellation. Obviously I was very unhappy with this. I have never been a member of a gym before so I went into this whole thing kind of blindly. I have spoken to a few friends that have told me that that is a resonable price, but that maybe because I only used the place twice that he could have cut me a deal.
Review of Service
I was extremely pleased with the girls that were on staff there. They were very pleasant with me and helpfull both times I attended the gym. The facility was very nice and they had all of the newest and high tech equipment out there. I still think I may join another gym in the future but I will be sure to get all the little details that somehow get left out about fees etc..I suppose I can just take this as a learning experience and make better choices in the future.
Tips
Make sure that when you join any kind of club or organization that you have to pay your hard earned money for that you research and read all of the fine print so that you do not get taken advantage of.
