Review of Service
This is a small, locally owned gym that is located between two well established neighborhoods. The membership is an eclectic mix of all ages, races, and genders. Staff members are consistently helpful, and encouraging.
The shower facilities are small, but are kept spotless. Typically, there is no waiting for a locker of shower stall. Fresh towels and body soap are provided as part of the memebership fee.
Because there are so many different types of people who use this facility, persons who are beginning to work out after getting out of shape will not feel uncomfortable. The family atmosphere makes working out a lot of fun, regardless of your current state of fitness.
This gym supplements the revenue from memberships with a sandwich and salad bar on the premises. All drinks are either diet sodas, flavored herb teas, or bottle water. Vegetarian and low card dishes are included on the menu.
Tips
Check into locally owned gyms and health spas. While they may not offer all the amenities that the national chains usually provide, locally owned facilities tend to be more family oriented. Chances are there will be enough options to suit the needs of someone who simply wants a decent workout a few times a week.
Also, if committing to a contract goes against your grain, there is a good chance that a locally owned gym or spa will at least have short term commitments and possibly a month by month membership plan available.
