Review of Service
I was becoming more and more unhappy with the way I look, and the lack of stamina and energy I had, so I decided to join a gym. I was not willing to pay the insane fees that come with big name gyms, so instead I found a great local, small gym. It is located on a golf course, and includes a weight room, cardio machines, free classes and personal training. The cost of the membership for one person is 30 a month, there was NO contract to sign, and there was NO sign up free. No commitment unless you chose to pay for x amount of time in advance. I think this is great, because if you move or decide to change gyms or to stop going altogether, you don't have to worry about continuing to be charged for a service you're not using. Also, the gym has a buyout plan if you're already a member of a gym elsewhere. The staff is friendly and so helpful, and I like that it doesn't have that meat market feel to it.
Tips
The first thing to do is to make sure you can get a tour. Every gym should allow you to work out for free one time, or charge 5 dollars or less to be able to try out the place. Make sure that a free training session is being offered, or at the very least that there is someone who will show you all of the machines and how to properly use them. Remember that you're at the gym to get healthy, not to feel like a piece of meat, so if during your initial look around, if you think you might be uncomfortable there, just don't go. There are plenty of gyms out there, it's important to find one that is right for you.
