College campuses offer a wealth of intelligent students who are more than happy to share their expertise for a fraction of the cost of "professionals". I would not rule out using a professional web designing service, but I was happy to contribute to these students' education and get a quality product in return. Call your local college campus' computer information systems office and ask if they have any prospects who might be willing to help you design a web page. Chances are, they will be able to offer wonderful suggestions.
