Description of service
I was out on the west coast (in San Diego) on business and staying at a nice (chain) hotel. I wanted to get a good workout and had some free time. So, I hired a personal trainer at the hotel gym for a one hour session. He put together a quick total body workout routine on the fly and helped me work through it. He actually spend a little over an hour with me.
Review of Service
You get what you pay for in a hotel gym. Of course, you pay a bit too much. However, you pay for the convenience. The trainer was competent and knew what he was doing. He did not push too hard; I do not think that most of the hotel clients are really looking for a taxing workout. Plus, the limited equipment at the hotel gym makes working out there a bit tricky. He relied on isometric exercises more than I would have liked. Nonetheless, I got a better workout working with him that I would have if I was trying to motivate myself to workout in between meetings.
Tips
While they are more expensive, splurge on a trainer at a hotel and get a good workout, relieving the doldrums of a business trip. If you can, request in advance the type of workout you'd like.
