the Price of Special Dental Procedures

I needed a "crown lengthening" so that my tooth could later have a crown. I went to this periodontist who did the procedure and then did a follow-up checkup to make sure everything was healing properly. The procedure involved cutting away some gum so that more of the tooth would be available for the dentist to put a crown on.

Although it was frustrating to have to pay for the crown lengthening on top of the crown, this periodontist was the gentlest dentist I have ever had experience with. He made sure that I was comfortable and that he had put in plenty of anesthetic before he did anything. The tooth was later successfully crowned by another dentist.

I was referred to the periodontist by another dentist, whom I found by asking a friend of mine. I chose the friend I asked carefully--she has obviously had good dental care and also she is the kind of person who would not tolerate a rude or uncaring person. The original dentist had the values that I wanted--an interest in patient care and making the patient comfortable. Then she passed me along for this special procedure to the periodontist who had the same values.
