Description of service
The side of a dental crown broke off while eating, leaving a jagged porcelain edge right up against my gum. The majority of the crown was still firmly in place, but the outer (non-lingual) side of the white veneer had cracked and broken off. The crown needed to be repaired, but I was not going to get a new crown.
Review of Service
I found an emergency dentist who was able and willing to grind down the jagged edge. The repair involved grinding the edge to something that was both safe to eat with and structurally sound for the remaining crown. The objective was to not replace a new crown.
Tips
Find out if the repairs are intended to be temporary (until you can get a new crown) or as a repair to the existing crown. Try to have repairs made to be permanent, since temporary work means you'll have to come back for permanent work - and pay for two visits in the process. Ensure that if permanent repairs can be made, that they are made. otherwise, the dentist will make temporary repairs by default. And you can't undo temporary repairs to make them permanent without a second visit - so know what is being done before the work stars.
