Description of service
A custom made, three - tiered, stacked wedding cake. The price of $275 included the cake, a cake stand, and the delivery of the cake to the reception site (which was less than 5 miles from the cake shop). A gratuity of $40 is not included in this price.
Review of Service
Our experience with the cake shop began with the cake tasting. The thirty minute long session took place in the corner of the cake shop at a table that easily accommodated the bride, her mother, three sisters, best friend, and niece in a stroller. The staff was friendly and helpful. With several very large books filled with cake choices (photo albums of cakes actually produced at the shop by the staff) and descriptions, it was easy for the bride to find several great possibilities. The choices of cake flavors, fillings, and frostings were abundant, but not overwhelming.
Once the bride narrowed her choices down, the decorator sat down with her and made suggestions based on the size of the wedding and the dinner menu. The decorator went over the final design on the spot, and provided a colored copies of the sample pictures of different elements of the cake, as well as a sketch of what the cake would look like. Copies of the signed contract were given to both the bride and the person paying for the cake (me). They allowed the cake to be paid for ahead of time, and make tentative arrangements for delivery (which were firmed up one week prior to the actual wedding date).
The cake was delivered on time and was gorgeous ... even better looking and tasting than we had expected. The cake was an EXCELLENT value for the price and the service was phenomenal.
The finished cake was three tiered (each tier being a different cake flavor), frosted, covered in rolled fondant, and had hand-piped decorations. It was accented by fresh flowers that matched the wedding colors.
Tips
If you are not the bride/groom and are paying for the cake, be sure that you give the bride a copy of the receipt in case there are any issues with the cake shop. Call to check - in with the shop a month and then a week prior to the wedding date. For your protection, make sure you, and the cake shop, sign a contract.
