the Cost of Wedding Cakes

We tried to save some money on the cake and used a small local bakery instead of one of the more well-known wedding cake specialists, and the total cost of the cake was $125. We first met with the owner/baker and tasted some of his cakes and then decided to have a two-layer cake with the bottom chocolate and the top layer light vanilla. We did go with a cream icing in our wedding colors and the cake was ordered to feed 150 people so that we could have leftovers and not worry about running out. The cake was delivered to the wedding location by the owner.

Both layers of the cake were delicious and all of our guests told us how much they liked it. We decided on a very simple cake and that's why we felt comfortable using a small bakery for the work, and he did a really nice job for a reasonable price. He was great to work with during our first meeting and had some good ideas and listened to what we wanted as we developed the order. He checked in with me in advance of the wedding date and was responsive and delivered the cake exactly on time. We were totally satisfied and have recommended him to everyone that has asked us about our wedding cake.

One of the few areas that you can cut costs while still maintaining quality is the cake, so if you want something simple and trust a smaller shop, it is worth checking them out just to compare prices and taste. You can always go back to the popular bakery if you decide that a big and fancy production is what you want in your cake.
