Description of service
We found someone to make our wedding cake a week before the wedding at the last minute, and deliver to our location as well.
Review of Service
A week before our wedding, the woman we had hired to make our cake for us ended up backing out. I looked online at some local bakery reviews, and read good things about a local bakery in Chestnut Hill. I called, and spoke to the manager about the situation, and she told me to come in right away if possible. 35 minutes later we were given a wonderful cake tasting, with 6 different cakes and icings to try out. The woman helping us was friendly and understanding. We picked a wonderful cake (lemon pound cake with raspberry mousse filling and buttercream icing) and told them how we wanted it to look. The morning of the wedding we had the most beautiful cake delivered (free of charge), and it tasted amazing. We were so happy with it, and were thankful that it was possible last minute.
Tips
Make sure you have a contract as to delivery date and time. Make sure your deposit is refundable if the baker is the one to cancel. Always get everything in writing, including your description and flavor choices. At the tasting, if the baker isn't offering you a variety of choices, you would most likely be better off with a different baker. Most places will deliever wedding cakes for free, so check that out. Online reviews are a great way to find out about the bakery you are interested in.
