Description of service
The service was for the cleaning of a very delicate and expensive goose down comforter that we use on our King size bed. The service included utilization of a special dry cleaning technique to clean the surfaces of the fabric without causing moisture to build on the inside of the fabric, which would then dampen the goose down and cause it to smell. The service also included folding and placement in a special bag to seal it off until we were ready to use it again.
Review of Service
The cleaning service provided us with a good means of cleaning the comforter without damaging it, which was nice, but the process was a specialty thing and therefore a longer time frame to clean the material. As a result, it took nearly five days from the time of drop off for the cleaner to get to the comforter and actually clean it. While I was impressed at the work, which in particular removed a stubborn stain that had resulted from my own stupidity in eating a turkey sandwich in bed some months before, most people I talked to that had a similar service done on their bedding told me that the excessive wait was very uncommon.
Tips
If you are in the market to have some sort of specialty cleaning done, be sure to find a cleaner that will turn the item around in a short period of time if at all possible. In addition, find a place that uses a technique that will allow the bedding to be cleaned without damaging the fillings, as even the slightest moisture in the filling of a piece of bedding can cause odor to emit from the fillings. Finally, go with a cleaner that has a good reputation among people you know, as they are a safer bet if someone recommends them as opposed to just going in blind with your expensive bedding hanging in the balance.
