Description of service
We suffered a house fire and four quilts were damaged with smoke. These quilts were made by my great great grandmother, so they were quite valuable to us and taken to a restoration dry cleaner. The payment was 100 for each quilt for careful cleaning that was also thorough enough to get the smoke smell out.
Review of Service
We dropped the quilts off and left them for a month to be cleaned. The quilts were fragile and so needed special care. We really appreciated the attention these people gave to our quilts. I don't know the exact process they followed, but when we got the quilts back, the smell was greatly reduced and the colors were not faded nor the fabric torn. It took a long time, but it was worth it. I was hoping to have the smell gone entirely, but having the quilts not be harmed is more important. I think this was a good value because a regular dry cleaner would have damaged them.
Tips
If you have regular blankets or comforters to clean, you can often get them into large washers at the laundromat. For feather comforters and other non-washable things, a regular dry cleaner could do a good job. For fragile things, look in the phone book for "restoration".
