Description of service
It cost $69.00 to have a 1999 Dodge Intrepid shipped about 50 miles. It usually cost $60.00, but due to the price of gas, there was a 15% fuel surcharge ($9.00).
Review of Service
I buy cars from automobile auctions sometimes. When I go, I usually hire a someone to drive the car for me, rather than having it shipped. A driver charges less and I can get the car a lot faster. But, this particular car seemed to have have some mechanical problems, so I decided that it would be safer to have it shipped. The problem with shipping cars from auctions is that the shipping company usually waits until they get a full load, so it takes a few days or even a week until the car arrives. The arrival time in this incident was 3 days, which wasn't too bad. If I had driven the car, it probably would have stopped on the highway. So, the shipping costs and waiting period were worth it.
Tips
If you need to have a car shipped, check with a few different companies to get information about delivery times and shipping costs. Make sure to choose a reputable company. Also, expect to pay more in you are in need of speedy service.
