Description of service
My dog had never had her teeth cleaned before, but the plaque was starting to be noticeable, so I scheduled her to have her teeth cleaned and checked. She was put under sedation (the noise of the instruments would normally scare a pet, especially considering it is right at their head) while the work was performed. The $115 included the sedation, cleaning and a 14 day supply of antibiotics to prevent infection.
Review of Service
I dropped my dog off on the way to work and picked her up that afternoon. She was not the least bit groggy from the sedation and her teeth was very bright. I know people can check a dog's teeth to determine their age, but my dog's teeth now appeared like that of a one year dog, rather than a 3 year old one.
Tips
Be sure to find out ahead of time if the quoted cost includes any preventative care (like the antibiotics for infections). Also find out if teeth cleaning is scheduled at only certain times. In my case, the veterinarian only performs surgeries and sedations on certain days unless it is an emergency. Remove your pet's food and water the night before the surgery. Just like a human, they can't have anything within 12 hours of being sedated.
