Description of service
My stepfather had a pair of leather dress shoes he refused to part with, although the soles were falling apart and the heels were ratty looking. $33 and 2 days later, they were ready to be picked up, with new soles and heels.
Review of Service
These shoes now look brand-new. It's fairly easy to maintain the upper portion of quality shoes, but the soles and heels are constantly abused and don't usually last as long. The $33 is not nearly as expensive as a new pair of shoes of comparative quality, and, if you have a personal attachment to them, you don't have to get rid of them.
Tips
It may take looking high and low for a quality shoe repair place. Most places that once existed just for repairing shoes are no longer in business. My stepfather was lucky enough to find an elderly gentleman that had done this sort of work for years before semi-retiring. Sometimes a high end shoe store might be able to guide you in the right direction but if you can't locate a professional cobbler you can see if any of the local leather shops or western stores might do this or can recommend someone that can.
