Description of service
I paid $250 for a freelance editor to edit a manuscript I'd written. The manuscript was about 600 pages. It took her 2 weeks to turn it back to me. It was edited for spelling and grammar issues.
Review of Service
I was happy with the service I received for this price. The two weeks was a little long but I was told upfront how long it would take and her estimate was accurate. I am a good writer as far as content and ideas go but do not have a background or training in grammar or punctuation. This was a cheaper and much easier option than having to take a class in either of those things. The manuscript was returned to be with all errors underlined and some notes in the margins explaining some things in greater detail. I was also given a completely edited manuscript with all errors corrected.
Tips
If you're going to have something edited be sure the person you're using has professional experience in this type of thing. Be sure you know if they are editing for grammar and puncuation only or also providing support for content. Try to get a copy with the changes outlined as well as a completely corrected copy.
