Description of service
I hired a professional editor to review a spec script I'd written for a television show. This was the total for her to read and comment on the content of the script. The editor had over 20 years of experience in television writing.
Review of Service
This service took a long time. It was almost two months from the start of the process to me finally having the edited script. Besides that though, it was a great experience. I was given excellent advice. I'd already submitted the script to several studios and not gotten any feedback. I was more interested in general ideas of how it wasn't working to utilize in the next script I wrote than actually fixing this copy up to be accepted. The editor gave great advice and I definitely came out of it a better and more aware writer. The other critique I have besides it take so long was that I think there would be a better way to receive the feedback I did. For example, I know of at least one script writing class I could have taken for less money. Considering my interest was mostly in just getting more general feedback I think this would have been the smarter way to go.
Tips
Be sure you know what you want to get out of the experience and get that. Be sure your editor is honest and as brutal as they need to be. Take the advice into consideration but not personally.
