the Cost of Gas and Electricity

We receive Electric Service from our local provider, and the bill can be over 300 in the winter. This is including a 6.00 monthly security light fee and some misc. charges. In the summer it is usually around 120-150 a month, that is with Central Air as well.

We have a 3 bedroom home, about 1248 square feet, with electric heat, but our house is not big at all. I think that this is outrageous for heating costs. We have even tried using our fireplace more this winter, and nothing has helped yet. The elctric company itself is really good. We rarely have power outages, and the customer service is wonderful and they have been helpful in helping us find programs to help families with the cost of heathing over the winter.

There are really not many options when it comes to choosing your electric company, because there is usually only one provider per area. The only advice I can give is that if you are unhappy with your electric costs, search for programs in your area that may help you with your utilities in the winter. Also, try to conserve energy if possible, if you have electric heat, check for air leaks around windows, and put up plastic if needed. Aso, trying little things may help a lot, like buying more energy efficient appliances, and well as the new energy efficient light bulbs. And as i am sure you hear all the time, make sure unused appliances are unplugged when not in use, and turn lights off when no one is in the room. We have to start taking things into our own hands because things like the cost of electricity are probably not going down anytime soon.
