Description of service
This is in regards to my electric usage and billing. I moved into this home which is a single story 1500 sq ft. During the summer, my electic bill was over 700.00! When I was in an apartment, it was around 350.00 so I guess it didnt really surprise me. But regardless, it was too much to being paying monthly for electricity. So I made some changes around my home to lessen the costs.
They type of service is the standard utility service for elecricity. However, I am forced to get it from one carrier which is the city itself. Come to find out this is one of the most expensive companies too.
Review of Service
The service itself is good as I rarely have a power outtage. This is a plus as I have lived in areas that power outtags occur daily. There is another plus about this expensive service, there are rarely surges also. This is what fries the computers and TV's in the home. So I guess for the costs of this service, it is better and more reliable that others, but you sure pay for it.
Tips
The changes I made to lesson the costs were;
1. Replaced all light bulbs in the home with the floresent spiraly kind of bulb. This cost me about 125.00 but saved me about 150.00 on my first bill.
2. I put a timer switch in the main bathroom because my kiddos have an issue with turning off the light. This saved about 62.00 per month
3. I installed a seal around the garage door to keep the temperature stable in the garage. This saved me about 50.00 per month.
4. I had a roofer install a turbine vent and a regular ven in the roof for air flow in the attic. This saved me about 100.00 per month.
TOTAL SAVINGS PER MONTH=362.00
Now my bill is around 370.00 during the summer and 150.00 during the winter. Try any of these and save some money. Just also make sure that your window and door seals are good.
