Description of service
Administrative assistants were hired to come in and complete a special project for which we did not have enough help in our normal workforce. They were commissioned mainly to do research various clients, contact them, and then collect the information and process it. At the end of this, they did mailers to several thousand of our clients.
Review of Service
The quality of work was excellent, especially for temporary help. We were able to significantly cut costs by not having to hire on additional workers, while still maintaining high standards. In fact, some of the workers proved so proficient that they were indeed hired on later with full benefits. The only drawback were the exceptions- the one or two workers who treated it as only a 'temp' job and so couldn't really be bothered to show up on time, and were always ready to leave early. As we did not have to worry about their behavior past the specified period, however, it was not a huge drawback- they got their work done and that was that.
We were lucky and got quite a deal for the price. It was much less expensive than hiring full timers or pulling already hired workers away from other positions.
Tips
Make sure to interview your temps as you would workers for any other position. While they may only be at the company for a few weeks, if you are working against a deadline you want to make sure you have reliable workers. Sometimes paying a little more insures a higher quality of worker.
