Description of service
Transcription of minutes from City Council meetings as well as several Advisory Board meetings for a local municipality in the State of Florida. The cost of the service was $25.00 per hour with the minutes being submitted on a CD using Word Perfect. Any corrections to be made to the minutes were made by full time employees.
Review of Service
The quality of service was excellent, freeing salaried employees to perform important assignments, saving time and money for the City. One major drawback to the service was the inability to control when the minutes were completed and having the minutes done off-site in case a member of the public wanted a portion of the minutes transcribed verbatim. The price of $25.00 per hour was a good price because many meetings were being described using overtime hours and the service saved money in the City budget, resulting in an award for the department responsible for minutes.
Tips
I would be sure that whomever you hire to do the minutes has experience in the types of minutes you require (i.e. verbatim, streamline, detailed, outline). I wish I had interviewed several applicants before choosing one that had minimal experience that was not in a governmental environment.
