Description of service
I had a faucet cartrdige replaced in a kitchen sink. The plumber also did a visual inspection of all of the plumbing in my condo.
Review of Service
The plumber works for a company that offers to inspect all of the plumbing in your home. You can then pay a small fee that guarantees you their lowest price on parts and more more free inspection to be done within the next year. The plumber did a very thorough inspection of my kitchen sink, washing machine, dishwasher and the sinks and toilets in both bathrooms and the shower and the tub. I moved into the condo a couple years ago and wasn't sure if any plumbing improvements had ever been done so I decided that having the inspection was a good way to go. I also had noticed a persisitent drip with the faucet in the kitchen sink. The plumber told me a few things rated "OK" and that I should keep an eye on them. He said that the drip in the kitchen was caused by the cartridge being old and that he could replace it. I then decided to pay the fee that allowed me to pay a little less for parts and that included another free inspection. I did this because I know nothing about plumbing and have no friends that are willing to tackle plumbing projects. I thought the prices seemed a little high but decided to have the work done. The faucet works fine, no drips and I have the peace of mind that the rest of the plumbing is OK for now.
Tips
I guess the best thing to do would be to see how much parts are if you bought them yourself. When it comes to drips and leaks, I don't like to wait too long to get them fixed so I did not get any other estimates. Maybe an self-employed plumber would charge less than a larger company like the one I used.
