Description of service
This was the price for a professional plumber to replace two leaking outdoor hose bibs (faucets.) It included cutting off the pipe leading to the leaking bibs, replacing that section of pipe with a new pipe and hose bib assembly, and soldering the joints together. It also included installing foam insulation around the pipe leading to the outside wall. They also ran the water and checked for leaks. There were two plumbers on the job and they were here for about an hour.
Review of Service
There is no way I trust plumbing to anyone but a professional. The men arrived on time. The owner of the company explained the price would be $125 if I only repaired one faucet, but for the two, he charged $225. The two men had to reach the pipes through my crawl space, which is filthy and terribly uncomfortable to work in. There were no compaints and they worked quickly and quietly. They were polite and cleaned up after themselves. After they finished, the owner/plumber took me outside to show me the work he had completed. He demonstrated that he installed a new type of hose bib for me that can never leak, so I would not have this problem ever again. He explained the mechanism (ball joint) that made it impossible for it to leak. He showed me how to work it, and made sure I knew how to operate it before he left.
Tips
Finding good contractors is always difficult and I always try to get a recommendation from a friend before using someone's services. In this case, no one I knew had a good plumber they could recommend. I dropped by a local plumbing supply company and they were able to recommend this company to me. Local suppliers are well acquainted with the professionals they sell supplies and materials to and are an excellent source of recommendations.
