Description of service
Water was backing up into my downstairs shower. The washing machine was overflowing. A plumber was called in to determine the problem.
Review of Service
The plumber came out several times to try and fix the problem. He decided it was the city's problem and called them. The city came out and indicated it was not their problem and showed me how clear their pipes were. My plumber was called back. He indicated, after another time looking at the pipes that there were tree branches that may have gotten into my pipes. He indicated that my pipe leading to the street would have to be repaired. An estimate of $3500 was given at this time. I was also told that I would have to wait several more days b efore they could fix the problem. I indicated that I could not do that and asked how they could help sooner. The plumber indicated that they could have the lines "temporarily cleared" and would send someone out. The company that came out, cleared out teh problem and I did NOT have to repair the entire line. This new plumber indicated that he would ahve only charged intitally $175 to do the clear out! My pipes DID NOT need replacing!!
Tips
1. Get a second opinion, unless you have a plumber that you completely trust.
2. Get references from other clients.
3. DO NOT pay for services until you are completely satisfied with the work.
4. Use caution in what you throw down your toilet. Do no throw anything down that will not biodegrade, even if you have a town sewer line. It CAN clog your line.
