Description of service
It started raining in my kitchen! A particularly bad sign, as I live in a three story house and the kitchen is on the second floor. It was clear that the leak was coming from the master bathroom. Of course, it was on a Sunday. I called a local plumber and he had me do several tests to determine where the leak was coming from. He gave me the list of tests, saying I could do them myself and save money. So the grandkids and I spent an hour running tests. We first filled the tub up and over the overflow thingee and there was no leak. The we let the water run out (while I held my breath) - no leak. Then we let the shower run, no leak. Then we took turns taking showers, no leak. Next we poured water by the shower head and "Granma it's raining! I called the plumber again and out he came. It turned out that the shower head was not the only problem and the plumber came out three times before all was said and done.
Review of Service
His service was excellent!! He came out three times and ended up having to re-place the shower head and a number of seals. First of all, I was very impressed that he gave me a list of things to do myself to try and determine the problem. He showed up when he said he would (a rariety in the construction trade) and he did a great job. I was afraid he would have to rip holes in walls and the kithcen ceiling to do the repair but he didn't. I was imagining a very costly repair and was thrilled to only spend $250. (which included the seals & shower head).
Tips
I was very impressed with the list of things he had me try to determine the source of the leak. I guess my best tip is not to panic when it starts "raining in the kitchen" - the repair may not be as bad as you think.
