Description of service
We are remodeling our kitchen and bathrooms, and are slightly moving the sinks and fridge. We need to move the kitchen sink over about 6 inches, and the bathroom sinks even less than that. I also required running new water lines to the back of the fridge for the water and ice maker, since it was being moved over 18".
Review of Service
This is one of those situations where you are forced to pay the $65/hour plus materials but see little real benefit because it's not like we have a new function it's just moved slightly. The actual work was satisfactory, and I'm sure it's all up to code and everything was done the way it is supposed to be done, but it's hard to accept paying that much for this service.
Tips
I recommend shopping around but I wouldn't expect to get much of a better deal than $65/hour or so, and plan for even a minor plumbing repair paying a minimum trip charge. I definitely encourage you to do simple tasks on your own; a lot of plumbing is just manipulation of PVC piping. Installation of new sinks (in existing locations), toilets, etc, are something that anyone with experience using basic hand tools can and should do for themselves.
