Description of service
Front brakes. The bike was stopping very slow and I was not sure if I needed new rotors and pads or if something was wrong with my motorcycle.
Review of Service
I took my motorcycle into a local dealership for repair on my motorcycle. The brakes were incredibly sluggish and non-responsive. After inspecting my front brakes, the dealership indicated to me that they needed to put new brake pads on my motorcycle, along with new fluid in the lines. I agreed and the total cost of new brake pads, fluid, and labor was 342.00. I took my motorcycle home 2 days later and at first everything seemed better. Then the sluggishness returned.
I decided to drain the brake lines myself in the front and the most disgusting white fluid was in there. The dealership did not even drain my brake lines. This was the original fluid. I should have done the service myself but I trusted the dealership.
Tips
If possible, buy yourself a shop manual or find someone that is mechanically inclined. It took 5 minutes to change the brake pads myself. It took another 15 to flush the fluid.
If you must take your motorcycle to the dealership, request a total break down of parts and services performed. Ask specific questions about what services they did and make notes.
