Description of service
I found this piano tuner online and he seemed like a good fit. I called him up and scheduled him to meet me at my grandmother's house to tune her family piano. I had noticed the last few times we had family gatherings there that it seemed way out of tune and she couldn't remember the last time she had had it tuned if ever! The price included the actual tuning, plus he looked over the the whole piano for any damage or anything to do with the condition of the piano. He did determine that the piano needed a pitch raising, and that cost us an extra $25.00 ($99.00 plus tax is the price of the tuning itself).
Review of Service
My grandmother and I were very happy with this independent tuner. He was kind and soft spoken and you could tell he knew his way around a piano. He treated the piano like it was a living animal, very gentle with it and with great precision. After he was done (he was there for quite a while...over an hour at least), the piano sounded AWESOME! Better than it had in years! I thought the fee was a bit steep, but my grandmother did not mind and we were all happy with the final outcome. I would definitely recommend him to others.
Tips
Be aware that piano tuning is not cheap. I was surprised by the price, but it was an in home service, so that was worth it not to have to take the piano somewhere. Also, get references of the tuner if you can. This man's website had references listed and I called some of them too!
