Description of service
A walking 'ghost' tour of Gettysburg, PA. The tour started at 9-9:30 and lasted about two hours. We had an in-costume tour guide who guided the tour and told elaborate ghost stories. There were about 20-25 people in the tour group, but we had no problem keeping up with the group and hearing our guide.
Review of Service
My boyfriend and I went, though he was much more enthusiastic than I was. But, we both had a great time. It was both educational and entertaining. Our tour guide was great, he was dressed in costume and told great ghost stories. He was great at emphasizing scary parts of the stories by jumping forward or yelling to scare the group. He's stories were historical and seemed accurate, though to be honest I might not know if he made some up. we walked around for about two hours, which was just long enough to hold my interest. I'm not a fan of ghost stories, and hate being scared, but this experience was just scary enough to be fun, but not too scary. My only complaint would be that the tour said it started at 9, however we were left standing around until 9:30 before the tour guide arrived. However I quickly forgave him because his stories were so good.
Tips
I suggest shopping around for tours before committing to one. There are several tour guide companies in gettysburg, and most require you to pay upfront because the tours fill up quickly. We paid 35 per person, which wasn't the cheapest, but it seemed more legitimate than some of the others. But don't feel bad about asking for information and then telling them you'll be back to sign up if you chose theirs. They'll try to pressure you into signing up for a tour and paying right then because they fill up fast. But look around a little before choosing your tour to make sure you find the best for you. And wear walking shoes!
