Description of service
A walking tour of the downtown area of Charleston, SC, with an emphasis on scary stories about past incidents and possible ghost hauntings.
Review of Service
When we were in Charleston we took a walking tour of the downtown that specialized in spooky stories about past debaucheries in the area, and folklore of the city detailing hauntings, scary ship stories from the harbor, and walks past supposedly haunted buildings. The tour guide really knew the history of the city, and the younger kids in the group thought it was fun and spooky. It was just silly fun for the adults, but it was nice to get to walk around the downtown area, learn some history, talk with a local who knew lots of details and back alleys, and to get to hear some fun stories along the way. There were about 15 of us on the tour, so if you wanted to hear what the guide was saying you had to keep up and not lag behind. Some people didn't seem to care much for the historical aspects of the tour, but others really enjoyed it. It was a fun time for the price, but if you plan to take your entire family it may get a little expensive.
Tips
Make sure you have on walking shoes! These tours are a thorough tour of the city! Also, be sure to look at the city guides that the visitor's center has. They often have buy one get one free coupons, or at least a discount coupon in the magazines there. Don't take kids that are too small to enjoy it. They'll get bored and annoy those who are trying to listen to the guide.
