Description of service
On a recent visit to San Francisco with my family, we signed up for a walking tour of the Victorian mansions in the neighborhood of Pacific Heights. We met at Union Square at the Corner of Post and Powell streets and boarded the bus that took us to Pacific Heights. We had a guide who explained the history and architectural features of the homes there. We also were able to go inside one of these homes and got a complete tour of the interior.
Review of Service
I enjoyed it. We choose this tour because it was advertised as "non-athletic" which was important since we had three small children with us and we weren't sure they could keep up with a brisk tour. The guide was extremely well-versed in the subject matter and had a terrific personality as well. Even the kids enjoyed it and it was a perfect way to get out and see one of the historic neighborhoods of San Francisco.
Tips
Even on a walking tour it can get chilly in San Francisco, even in the summer, so bring along a sweatshirt.
Not many walking tours offer a discount for children. Call ahead and see if they offer a child rate.
I wouldn't recommend a walking tour for children under 5. They tire too easily and you'll end up carrying them!
