For thirty dollars a night, I had someone stay with my pets and watch my home. They fed my fish, performed a fishtank waterchange, walked my dog, and made sure nothing was stolen.

The service I received was exemplary. My house was perfectly spotless when I got back, my pets looked content, and he'd even tidied up a few dishes. I did not expect everything to look as untouched and neat as it did when I returned from my business trip, but it really did. The only qualm I had with the service was the fact that the fishtank had not been serviced like agreed upon, but I later found out that he was not very familiar with saltwater fish.

The tips I can share are a few. Please make sure that the place you choose has QUALITY references and is a reputable company. Also, if you can, lock areas of your house that they do not need entry to -- I.E., your bedroom, just to be safe. I think that it's always a great idea to make sure that the person you're inviting into your home is a savory type, and if you have animals, make sure they know how to care for them properly. Leave a feeding guideline list and walking times.
