Description of service
My wife and I went on a five day business trip and hired a woman to dog sit our pet. The cost was
$30 a day and we gave her a gratuity of $10 per day when we returned.
Review of Service
We were referred to her by a neighbor and met with her at our home on two separate occasions to introduce her to our pet and our pet to her. They got along vey well and we hired her for the job. We reviewed the food, water, walking, playing requirements, lights "on" during the day and night, and "cleaning up" in the yard after the dog did her business. The lady was very friendly with our pet and seemed very much at ease with the responsibilities. We were able to answer all her questions. We left our contact telephone numbers, neighbors phone numbers, the vet, and our hotel location and phone numbers. WE also got two contaqct phone number for the sitter.
We did not expect her to stay overnight at our home but it would have a plus for us. We certainly would have compensated her for that service.
It was a very good value for us to have the confidence that our pet was well cared for by a responsible person.
Tips
My first advice would be to check into the person's references. Check more than one source. Be specific and write out the instructions for the sitter with all important phone numbers. Get contact numbers for the sitter.
If gone several days, be sure to call and check into the condition of the animal.
Be comfortable with your decision and enjoy the trip.
