Description of service
An acquaintance who does housecleaning cleaned my house for 4 hours, at $17/hour.
She didn't get the whole house done in four hours, but made quite a start, especially in the ktichen. She cleaned the kitchen stove, counters, sink, floor, the bathroom, and vacuumed. I have a dog who likes to shed so vacuuming alone is quite a task.
Review of Service
She did great, although she definitely started slowing down at the end of the time. There were some things that she paid more attention to than others, but she isn't a professional house cleaner (doing this to raise money for a missions trip), so that is to be expected.
I probably could have gotten better service from a professional, but this person was raising money for a good cause, and this way I was getting a service as well as helping with the cause! I also felt good about the fact that I knew this person.
Tips
I felt more comfortable knowing this person than I would if it was somebody who I didn't know. I was able to stay in the house while she was cleaning, which not all cleaners let you do. Also, because I knew her and she came with recommendations about her personal character, I didn't worry about her going through my personal things.
Make sure that you know exactly what someone is willing to clean. Some people have specialties, or things that they won't clean. Make sure that is clear up front, so that there are no misunderstandings later.
